There are basically two types of dual controls, those that profess to be universal and those that are specifically designed for the vehicle. DeskTop Driving Ltd does not sell dual controls, we do however have a reputation for telling it as it is...

Universal

This type of dual control is usually marketed under the slogan of "Why waste money every time you change your vehicle etc etc". The problem is every time you change your vehicle they usually require new cables costing around £70. Even though they are marketed as universal, the supplier usually quotes some caveat along the lines of "even though these controls are fully universal and designed to fit the majority of vehicles, we cannot guarantee a perfect fit". Yes! even the supplier admits the dual controls might not be a perfect fit.

We just have one question, why would you buy such an important item that by the suppliers own admission "might not be a perfect fit"?
When you need the dual brake you 'REALLY NEED THE DUAL BRAKE' and you need it to work NOW! not something that might not be a perfect fit.

If you have bought one of these types of dual control and you can't make it 'fit' properly or having read this article would prefer to have a vehicle manufacturer approved set of dual controls remember you are entitled to a full refund including cariage charges, by law.

Vehicle manufacturer approved

This type of dual control is the one that is specifically designed for the vehicle, does not affect the vehicle warranty, and is thoroughly tested prior to approval by the vehicle manufacturer. Because this type of dual control is held in such high regard in the driving instructor industry, when you change your car you will often find a willing buyer for your duals.
